05/24/09 Rebecca and James

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Rebecca, James, and Carol, Rebecca’s lovely mother, came to me last September on a referral from my friend, Jen Zierke of Prairie Crocus Designs, who was booked for that weekend.  Great for me as this family was a dream to work with having empiccable taste using my favorite color scheme, green and white, and having the ceremony and reception at one of my favorite venues, the Nicollet Island Pavilion http://www.minneapolisparks.org/default.asp?PageID=133

Every step of the planning process was effortless and executed to perfection- not a hitch all day!

I cannot wait to update with pictures from the photographer, Maribeth Romslo from Red Ribbon Studio and I will update with them here soon. In the meantime, check out this gorgeous couple on the photographer’s blog, http://www.redribbonstudio.com/blog/?p=663

Thank you so much for working with me, I truly had a great time meeting and designing the flowers for your most special day! Mazel Tov!

A note from the bride:

Dear Carra,

Wow! What wonderful flowers you provided for our wedding last weekend! Everything looked so beautiful, and I especially loved my bouquet.  So many people commented on how much they loved the centerpieces.  Thanks again! I will definitely pass your name along to all my engaged friends!

Sincerely,

Rebecca and James

A note from trhe bride’s mother:

Thank you again for making James and Rebecca’s wedding so beautiful.  You made it look so much like us- stunning, beautiful, but not over the top- just as high as we could imagine it could go! You were delightful to work with and we will be pleased to write in the webiste and pass your name on.

I got a call from Rheanna a couple weeks before her wedding.  She lived out of town and didn’t have time to meet before her big day but we corresponded via phone and email and figured out her perfect wedding flowers. She was so easy to work with.

I will always remember Rheanna because she is the only bride that I never got to meet…ever.  I’ve had a few brides that I didn’t get to meet until day of, but when I delivered her flowers, her mom and sister greeted me at the Depot http://www.thedepotminneapolis.com/ alone and I never even got a glimpse of the bride:(

Her photographer did already let me see all of the wedding images and pick through my favorites, and I’ll post them as soon as she sends them my way.

A note from Rheanna:

Carra,

The flowers were beyond my expectations!!  I absolutely loved the wire detail on the boutonnieres when I saw them in person, and the bridesmaid’s bouquets were picture perfect for both the ceremony and the reception!

My bouquet was my dream bouquet!!  And all the orchids held up SO WELL despite the heat of the afternoon, the car ride, and the warmth of the air&nearby table candles at the reception.  Thank you for being part of our day.

It was so easy to work with you and I wish you the best with your business- you definitely have my recommendation!

Thanks again,
Rheanna & David

The mother of the groom contacted me for this wedding.  She wanted to surprise her son and soon-to-be daughter-in-law with professionaly done personal flowers. How sweet!

It was a team effort of all the ladies in these two families to decide on the exact flowers for Stacy’s bouquet, but we finally came up with this gorgeous combination of plum and white Callas, dark purple Tulips, pearl-filled Stephanotis, and Silver Dollar Eucalyptus.  I think it was a winner! The attendants carried presentation-style bouquets of white Standard Calla Lilies and all bouquets had a handle treatment of a wrapped Aspidestra Leaf.  We carried the modern and natural them throughout using a stem treatment of looped bear grass on the boutonnieres and added a bit of dark purple Waxflower (my husband’s favorite flower (ha ha, he has a favorite flower)) to the flowers to wear.

Stacy and Chris were married at the historic Fort Snelling Chapel http://fortsnellingmcf.org/events.php and had the most beautiful day for a wedding! I wish you the best of luck!

Take a look at my pictures and I’ll upload the professional’s once I get them:

A note from the bride:

Carra!

I am sitting in the Atlanta airport just getting back from the Dominican Republic with my husband :)

On that note — THANK YOU SO MUCH! I got an unbelievable amount of comments on all the flowers, especially my bouquet! I honestly have never seen anything so beautifully put together! I told everyone where I got them and how awesome you were.

Again, thank you so much for all the advice, the last minute consultation, amazing flowers, awesome personality, etc! I will and have already passed your name on! Lots of my friends attended the wedding and they know where to go :)

Thanks again, Carra. I’ll send you some pictures too, when I get back home!

Stacy and Chris

A note from the bride’s mom:

Carra -

I cannot express to you how BEAUTIFUL the flowers were that you provided for my daughter Stacy’s wedding.   Since we all live in separate cities you were awesome in sending flower examples via e-mail and was super accomodating with all the e-mails sent from me, my daughter Stacy and the groom’s mom Sharon.  The flowers were extrordinary and beyond my wildest imaginations.  I especially loved the natural wraps vs ribbon.  You truly have a special talent.  With respect and awe,

Karen

MB’s garden before (mostly) and 2 after- more to come!

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Right after closing on our house our best friends, Mark and Amy, asked if they could get married in our backyard.  Of course we said yes, but we had a ton of work to do to get the house and gardens ready to accommodate guests for such an important event.  To help and a way to say, “Thank you!”, Mark and Amy got us a gift of a cleaning service from MB’s Cleaning.  Our house was spotless!  We’ve stayed in touch with the owner, Mary Beth, throughout the years and she asked me for help with her yard.

When I toured her yard I found that she had plenty of perennials to work with.  I planned on amending most of the beds with enriched soil, peat-moss, and manure, split existing overgrown plants, move sun loving plants from shade areas to sunny areas, move old bricks from under overgrown shrubs and use them as edging, and clean up all areas of her yard.

I also learned that MB was very much into Feng Shui.  She was kind enough to lend me one of her books, that I read right away.  Using the basics of Feng Shui, we designed her back yard into 9 gardens.  This has been a lot of work, but a hugetransformation that will hopefully bring joy for years to come.  These pictures are very new and I’ll be updating with more as the plants start to bloom and recover from transplant shock.

05/02/09 Nikki and Jesse

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Nikki and her very detailed (which I appreciate) wedding planner, Meggann from Brio Events http://brioeventsdesign.com/, came to me with a very precise idea of how they wanted Nikki and Jesse’s wedding to look.  Together we came up with a plan that made that idea come to life, and with the help of fabulous shots from talented photographers from Kelly Brown Weddings http://www.kellybrownweddings.com/, you too can see how the day turned out. The wedding took place at the gorgeous Chruch of Saint Agnes http://www.stagnes.net/ and the reception was at the Airport Hilton http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/MSPAHHF-Hilton-Minneapolis-St-Paul-Airport-Mall-of-America-Minnesota/index.do, where Jesse works.  The gorgeous cake was done by Buttercream http://www.buttercream.info/. The aisle runner, programs, invites, seating chart board, vase coverings of red Dupioni Silk, and other fine details were handmade from Meggann- so pretty!

Hi Carra,

Thank you sooooooooooo……….much for making our wedding turn out so gorgeous!!!!!!  The flowers were absolutely amazing!  The bouquets, pomanders, hair flowers and boutonnieres turned out exactly how I wanted!  I gave you a picture of what I wanted and you definitely made that vision come to life!  The flowers and centerpieces at the reception were  unbelievable!!!  Jesse and I both started crying when we walked into the ballroom everything was just so perfect.   I kept saying all night that I felt like I was on Platinum Weddings because I could not get over how gorgeous everything looked!!!  We received soooo… many compliments on the flowers and centerpieces all night, people could not stop talking about how great everything looked!  Words cannot express how grateful we are to you for all your hard work in making our wedding unbelievable.  You are so fun and easy to work with and have an awesome personality!!  I remember telling Megann at our first meeting that Jesse and I would be going with you because you just got my vision and had so many awesome ideas.  We will definitely be recommending you to everyone we know!!!

Thanks again for everything!!

Nikki
