3/15/08 80th B-Day Party

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Paulette, Dan’s mom  (see Amber and Dan  http://lapetitefleurmn.com/news/?p=522), contacted my about doing a centerpiece and corsage for Dan’s grandmother’s 80th surprise birthday party.  She really likes white Calla Lillys so I put together white Callas, double Tulips, and white Tulips accented by Bear Grass in a bubble vase with black river rocks.  For the corsage I used all the above flowers as well as white Stock and clear jewel accents.  The uber cute framed picture in the last photo is of the Birthday girl and her husband on their wedding day (check out the size of the bouts and corsages back then- they were HUGE!). Thank you for letting me be another part of your family’s lives by choosing me to arrange your flowers.  Keep in touch!

It all started in jail…

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Sara and Brandon met in a not too romantic setting…jail.  They both work as Corrections Officers at the Ramsey County Jail, where I also work.  Seeing Sara day in and day out in that hot brown uniform was just to much for Brandon, he had to ask Sara to marry him. And she said, “YES!”

They decided to get married at the Juvenile Justice Center with family and friends including Ramsey County Sheriff, Bob Fletcher, and her beautiful daughter, Madison. Even though this was a quick ceremony, the emotion was intense as this couple really love each other. The self-written, amazing vows, the many speeches from family and friends, and the presentation of a pretty bracelet to Madison from Brandon as he promised he’d always be there for Madison had everyone in tears.

Apparently I want to be a wedding photographer as well as a wedding florist because, as usual, I took way too many photos- here are just a couple my favorites.

Thank you for letting me witness your touching ceremony and choosing me to be your wedding florist. Here’s to many years of happy marriage- It looks like you’re well on your way!

Mmmmmmm….Mimosa!

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Not only are mimosas my new favorite grown-up drinks, but the flower Mimosa is absolutely stunning and smells fabulous.  I just had to have some when I saw it at my wholesaler. I’m still happy a week later with my decision for every time I come home I am welcomed by the sweet, clean smell of this fun-looking flower.

Big Al’s New Baby

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Little Luke William joined our ever-growing circle of friends Tuesday, Feb. 25th. He came fast and furious, eager to meet his beautiful Mama and Daddy.  I cannot wait to watch you grow and become best friends with your big brother, Ethan Andrew, and play with A-LO and the gang.

Here’s a picture of Al and Andrew, the BIG brother, the new cutie,  and the arrangement I made for all of them.  It was made up of ‘Babe’ Spray Roses (Alison calls everyone ‘Babe’), light purple button Mums, deep purple Delphinium, light purple Larkspur, fun, bright yellow Mimosa, Seeded Eucalyptus (my favorite), and Salal in a gorgeous aged, mossy urn.  Welcome little Guy!
