Be good to the Earth and recycle your wedding bouquets!
Monday, September 22nd, 2008A past bride, Amber (see http://lapetitefleurmn.com/news/?p=522) just emailed me to show me what she did with her bridal bouquet. Take a look:
Hi Carra, I just wanted to share with you what I did with my dried wedding flowers… I made a wreath! Of course I didn’t use some of them because they didn’t dry well. I’m really happy with the result (of course it doesn’t hurt that my flowers were quite Christmasy). Just thought I’d share
Hope all is well with you. I’ve told a few people about you so hopefully they’ll be contacting you.Take care,
Amber
Great job reusing, being creative, and keeping in touch. Thanks!
Denny and Joy’s 40th Anniversary
Sunday, September 7th, 2008My wonderful in-laws, Denny and Joy (Or Mema and Papa, as Anja calls them), celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in May. As a surprise gift, I recreated their wedding alter pieces- topiaries of red Carnations, white Spider Mums, and Myrtle. We had a delicious brunch and relived their day and long lasting and very happy marriage. Check out the picture of Kyle’s grandma, Jean (or GiGi) , and her squeeze, Maury. They couldn’t be a cuter couple!
Dinner parties everywhere!
Friday, September 5th, 2008My husband and I love to entertain. My husband has taken some cooking classes and is turning into quite the gourmet chef. He loves to try his new dished to our family and friends and we love to let him. Recently he made a grilled Tuna Steak with a fresh Cilantro Salsa- delish! Oh, and last night he made BBQ Pork Kabobs with a Thai Peanut dipping (guzzling) sauce, rosemary mashed potatoes, pinapple coleslaw, and Ciabatta bread - (this is where I make the dueling gargle noise like Homer Simpson when he thinks of a food he loves).
While he does this, I set the table up all pretty and arrange some flowers. The first arrangement is white and purple Hydrangea, Love-in-a-Mist, Montbresia Pods, green Button Poms, and purple and yellow Freesia in a square vase based with a band of Raffia.
The second one I tried to make as masculine as possible using very little flowers. Curly Willow, mini Myrtle, a single stem of green Button Poms, Bluperbum, and Craspedia arranged in sections and inside the vase, a blanket of Rainbow Ti leaves hide the stems. I think it looks guy-y, how about you?
Anja and her little friends, AJ, Mason, and Matea enjoy some Popsicles on my back stairs- too cute!
Check out how great of a little photographer Anja is turning out to be- she took this picture of her two favorite stuffed animals, Duke and Owie Bear. Great composition!
4/21/08 2 year anniversary
Thursday, April 10th, 2008Mark asked me to put something together for his wife, Deb, for their anniversary (see Mark and Deb http://lapetitefleurmn.com/news/?p=145) I thought I’d make her think of her wedding bouquet by using white Roses and green Cymbidium Orchids in this pave style arrangement.
It sure does fly by when you’re having fun!
Congrat’s Mark and Deb on 2 years!
4/9/08 New baby, Dylan Brixton
Wednesday, April 9th, 2008Here’s a bouquet I put together using Vanda Orchids, Leucadendron, Peonies, Curly Willow, red strained leaves, and purple ostrich feathers to welcome little baby Dylan Brixton into the world! He’s as darn cute as the rest of his family; mom- Kelly, Dad- Drew, and big sister- Bella Bleu. Anja says she can’t wait to kiss!
Welcome Sierra Sage
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008Tara and Steve (see http://lapetitefleurmn.com/news/?p=151) brought a beautiful little girl into their loving marriage and our ever-growing circle of friends! Welcome little one- I can’t wait to watch you grow!
50th Wedding Anniversary Flowers
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008I work with Kay at the Ramsey County jail. Kay’s parents have been married for 50 years. We thought it might be a neat idea to copy the flowers they wore for their ceremony. Kay found a nice photo and gave it to me. Although it was black and white, I knew it was white Carnations for the groom and white Roses and blue ribbon for the Bride and Aunt. I did these with permanent botanicals so they could have them forever. I hope their flowers bring back some great memories and that they have a nice dinner to celebrate 50 years of wedding bliss. Congratulations!
3/15/08 80th B-Day Party
Tuesday, March 18th, 2008Paulette, Dan’s mom (see Amber and Dan http://lapetitefleurmn.com/news/?p=522), contacted my about doing a centerpiece and corsage for Dan’s grandmother’s 80th surprise birthday party. She really likes white Calla Lillys so I put together white Callas, double Tulips, and white Tulips accented by Bear Grass in a bubble vase with black river rocks. For the corsage I used all the above flowers as well as white Stock and clear jewel accents. The uber cute framed picture in the last photo is of the Birthday girl and her husband on their wedding day (check out the size of the bouts and corsages back then- they were HUGE!). Thank you for letting me be another part of your family’s lives by choosing me to arrange your flowers. Keep in touch!
News!!!
Monday, February 11th, 2008I just found out that one of my favorite brides, Jessica is PREGNANT! (see Jessica and John 9/22/07 http://lapetitefleurmn.com/news/?m=200709) Wooo-hoo! Way to go guys! That little bugger is going to be a super-cutie with you as the parents! They are due in August and I can’t wait to meet (and post pictures of) their bundle of joy.
