6/5/10 Traci and Justin

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

I was fortunate enough to do her sister’s, Tammi’s, wedding flowers and then I get to do Traci’s too!  Can’t wait to do the next family member/friend’s wedding:)  This one took place at the absolutely gorgeous venue, the Stillwater Library

Everything about this wedding was great: The weather was perfect, the bride was laid back, the venue, James J. Hill Library was perfect, my fabulous husband helped set up, the cake was from the talented Queen of Cakes, and the photographer was my friend, Steph from EyeSpy Photography- this being the most important to note here because I only took a couple of the wedding flowers myself knowing she’ll rock them out of the house! This is going to be good- stay tuned!

As I was designing this pot for Lara when her husband, Pat, came home and said, “ey, can you do one of those for my Mom too?”  So I did:)

Home and Garden Show Design Contest

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

We didn’t know what we were going to have to make.  We didn’t know what container we would have.  We didn’t know what type of materials we would have to work with.  We did know we were finalists at Koehler and Dramm’s design Competition and were competing for the title of Florist of the Year and we had 25 minutes.  Go!  The time felt like it was over in 5 minutes.  It was a beautiful bucket of foliage and flowers to choose from.  We were to design an entryway piece for the Home and Garden Show with the theme of “Go Green”.  There were some fantastic designers I was competing against.  I am not a fast worker, I am a deliberate, meticulous designer. That hurt me.  I broke a sweat. I did not win.  I om okay with not winning and I am so glad that I delivered a pretty finished piece, that I had fun, that my daughter and husband were there to cheer me on, and that my husband brought me a beer at 5 minutes!  Next year maybe!  Show below in ascending order is me trying to figure out what I was going to do, a couple action photos, my piece, other contestants pieces, then the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place winners.

The Shop

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

The most important areas (besides the two coolers) in my shop; the work table, the stereo, the compost bin, my stress mats, and Anja’s area.

01/08/10 Kari and Matt

Monday, January 25th, 2010

We switched this order around a couple of times but I think the end result was awesome!  Ranunculus, Lisianthus, Seeded Eucalyptus, and Variegated Curly Pittosporum teamed together to make a most memorable bouquet.  My favorite part of this wedding, aside from the groom doing a little Irish Jig for me upon request, was the bride’s fashionable winter boots! A close second would be the altar arrangements packed full of Parrot Tulips, Curly Willow, Roses, Viburnum Berries, Antique Hydrangea, fragrant Stock, Huck, Lisianthus, Sweet Peas, Pittosporum, and Bear Grass.  Wait, wait, wait, I did LOVE Kari’s ‘40 inspired hair-do with the little pin curls and the feather clip.  Oh, and the Bear Grass detail on the stem of the boutonnieres was a nice touch too.  Crud, the pew decorations were pretty darn nice as well- I guess I really liked it all!!!

Sara and Lucas 01/02/10

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Red, red, black, and red was the theme of this New Year’s wedding.  Sara and Lucas were married and had their reception at the historic Concord Exchange building in South Saint Paul. I loved the location not only because it’s a cool old building, but more so because It’s 3 miles from my house:) Check out these fantastic photos by her photographer, CM Photographics.
