Hello! Thank you for stopping by my website. My name is Carra Otten, wife of Kyle, mom of Anja the kid, Modoc the dog, and Twyla Rose the cat.
I'm the proud owner and lead designer of La Petite Fleur, my original wedding floral design business that I started some 15 years ago. When people ask me what I do for a living, I say, "I make things pretty". I design and install fresh (or permanent) flowers for weddings, funerals, corporate events, private residences, gardens, restaurants, and outdoor containers. I come into homes and decorate for holidays, using existing pieces and mix them with new.
The Felled Tree, my funeral business, fell into my lap 7 years ago when one of the top funeral homes in the United States approached me to help them with their floral. It's been an honor designing for someone's last hurrah, putting love and personal touches into each piece.
The newest part of what I do is lead TFD- Traveling Floral Designers. This came to be because I had the opportunity to do the biggest job of my career. It was a "live wedding" on a network TV channel. I put together a team of amazing florists to knock that project out of the park, and we did. Since then, I've freelanced all over the country, near and far. We help on small and large projects. From one to 8 designers, we can do it all. We've taken over florist shops when the owner was in a car accident and had multiple weddings and daily orders to fill. We've taken over the design work and set up of full weddings for other owners who have over-booked themselves, both at their studios and mine, where I have ample cooler space.
